Mary Mackillop's Feast Day Flowers

For Mary Mackillop’s Feast Day my class and I made Mary Mackillop flowers. We used pastels, crayons and some felts for our background. Mary Mackillop was the founder and maker of our school which makes her very special to Good Shepherd School. I used six words to describe her. Mary Mackillop was Kind, Loving, Caring, The founder of our school, Helpful and last but not least she was honest. Thank you Mary Mackillop for all you have done for us.

Grandparents Day!!!

On Friday, 24 August it was Grandparents’ Day! Grandparents’ Day is a day when we celebrate our grandparents and show how thankful we are to have them. Lots of grandparents came on that day and had a great time. There were lots of food and drinks. There was a sausage sizzle and I had one with my friend. There were performances like kapa haka, Irish dancing and choir. At the end all of Good shepherd school went back to their classrooms with their grandparents and showed them their art work.

Sister Mina's Jubilee

Sister Mina is my dad’s great aunty and my great grandma’s sister. She is celebrating her 50th anniversary for being a nun. There were four nuns celebrating their 50th anniversary. There was a Mass me and my family needed to attend. We made it but we were late. After the Mass had ended, we had some lunch. There was some potato salad, cake, fruit, prawns and there were some hot and cold beverages. I had a great time at sister Mina’s jubilee and I hope she did to.

How my speech went...

how my speech went...

It was my turn to go up and present my speech. I was terrified! When I went up to present my speech I had that feeling that I was about to fall off a cliff! Everyone was cheering my name on. Hearing them say my name made me nervous than I have ever been! “Go!” shouted Jiwoo then I started my speech out loud.
After I finished presenting my speech I felt so good. In fact I wanted to do it again! Now I have to wait and see who makes it in the semi finals.

My title page

In this church strand I did a title page. In this picture I have drawn Jesus, Mary a cross and a rosary. I made this to show that Jesus lives in us and that he will always love us no matter what! We go to the Church to worship God and celebrate the resurrection of our lord.

Eating Healthily

Eating healthy foods, as you all know, can get us through the day and can also help us grow.

Eating healthily means eating a lot of veggies and fruit, only very little bad food. Dairy is a great source of protein and calcium and are found in yogurt, milk, cheese and eggs.

We need to eat healthily so that we have energy to get us through the day. Meat, eggs, fish, bacon and beans are a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals in your diet. We should eat some of these foods for almost every day.

If you eat too much fat food or sugar in your diet you can raise cholesterol, which increases the risk of a heart disease. Fat food helps the body absorb vitamins E, A and D. However we only need a little bit of it.

Any nutritious foods can help get energy flowing in your body. Vegetables and fruit can help us with vitamins and minerals. Now you know why we need to eat healthily. So make sure you eat healthily!

My Place Value Poster

In room 9 maths class I made a poster all about place value. Its colourful bright and has a title that says place value with a lot of bows.

It has an explanation about what place value is.  Place value has hundreds, tens and units in a 3 digit number.

I had so much fun making my maths poster.

Tabloid Sports

This year for St. Joseph's Day we did tabloid sports. All the houses had to switch over more than once. There were so many sports to choose from, such as Stuck in the Mud, Shark Attack and others.
There were 8 games to go through but every house got to go through 7 of them only. My favourite game to play was Stuck in the Mud. Straight after contributing in the tabloid sports we had a sausage sizzle! So yummy!

My self portrait and my acrostic poem

This is my self-portrait and my acrostic poem that I made with my class. We made it for our first assembly. It was so much fun to make. First I had to make myself-portrait then I had to type my acrostic poem. Finally my acrostic poem printed out now came the fun bit! Decorating! I had so much fun making myself-portrait and my acrostic poem.

Poi Making

This year for our school production we made pois. Only the girls got to make them witch was the fun bit. It was hard to make them especially by yourself. The first thing we had to do was to bring some plastic bags from home which was the easy bit. Then came the hard bit: wrapping, sellotaping, covering!

Here are the method to making a poi:

Get some wool and a piece of string.
Wrap the string around the wool and tie a knot.
The next step was to scrunch it up into a ball.

Then get a plastic bag and cover the ball with the plastic bag

Now twist the poi then sellotap it then do again.

I had to get four or five people to help me! It was annoying at first then I got used to it. I loved making poi’s for our school production.

I hope it goes well for you too.

My trip to Australia

On the last day of school I went to Australia. Australia!!!!, could you imagine the heat? I went with my 7 year old sister Filomena, my 5 and 2 years old brothers Matthias and Alfred, and of course me and my parents. We stayed at my dad’s brother’s house with his three kids and wife.

My family and I stayed in Australia for two weeks! First we visited my granddad in Canberra which is the capital of Australia. There were mangos there, of course I wanted some but unfortunately we weren't allowed any.
After, my family and I including my granddad took a photo. We hugged each other while saying goodbye. When we got home it was the middle of the night everyone was worn out so everyone went to sleep.

The next day my uncle was packing a picnic. I asked my uncle what he was packing for and he said to take a guess. I thought he was going camping but he said “no”. My sister Filomena woke up and said ‘’are you packing just for fun?’’ And then she fell back to sleep and of course he said ‘’no’’. Finally I got it, we were going to wet n wild!

I started waking everyone up. My cousin’s and I were very excited. When we finally got there we were amazed by how many water slides there were! There were some that were short, some that were long and some that were straight. There was even a pool with sand, It looked exactly like the beach but wet n wild is much more cooler. I went on all the water slides even the baby ones.
After all the fun I had had, I got to eat lunch and for lunch I had an egg sandwich with tomato sauce. Yum! When it was time to go I was so tired and so was my family. When we finally got home everyone went straight to sleep. I can’t wait to see my family again.

Did you have a good holiday?
